Water Water every where

Was watching BBC Breakfast this morning and they were talking about the virtues of tap water vs bottled. They had a chef and a wine connoisseur and did a bit of a taste test. I've never really been a fan of bottled water mainly becasue I'm too tight to buy it and think it is an utter waste of money but obviously over the years the environmental impact has come to the fore.

Anyway did a taste test and the panel and wine buff chose their favorites which happened to be the same and the wine expert gave his reasoning and I quote 'this one is more focused'...what a joke. Anyway turns out they all prefered the tap. Ha!

Now i know this hasn't got much to do with Ethical Fashion but it's a topic that gets me going.

High Street stores boycott Merino wool...

This time they have done a good thing. M&S, Next and a few other high street retailers are threatening to boycott Australian wool producers if they continue to use the cruel practice of 'Mulesing'. Basically if you own a merino wool jumper you might not know it but the poor little lamb might have had it's backside skinned (with no anaesthetic) to stop blowfly infestations. So the next time you opt for merino wool just have a think about the little lamb.

Good on the retailers for raising this little known issue...good to see they are thinking along the ethical clothing lines

The Good Life Gone Mad!

No you're not imagining things this is the view out of a West London window. The neighbour took a picture when she realised her next door buddies were keeping horses in the back garden because...'they wanted their kids to go to school on horse back' What's wrong with the bus??

First it was Chickens Now it's Bees!

The people who brought chicken keeping to urbanites are spreading their wings (!) and are hoping to turn you and me into City Beekeepers.

Omlet the company who brought us the Eglu are also behind this new venture and launched a pretty cool futuristic looking hive recently they are calling the Beehaus.

According to the British Beekeeping Association, Beekeeping's popularity has risen from 3000 to 14,500 enthusiasts in the last 18 months alone.

Mr Bochica will be delighted by the news. Whilst at the Eco Village at the Kent agricultural show recently he spent many an hour in the Beekeeping info tent...we even have a Bee house in the garden now. Maybe now his Beekeeping dreams will become a reality! Show me the honey honey!

Bamboo bargain for mums to be

Now a lot has been happening in Bochica Towers. Mr and Mrs Bochica have a baby on the way in the new year and I made a brilliant discovery today. The ethical fashion Frank & Faith bamboo Laura dress we currently have running in the sale makes an excellent maternity dress! I wore mine with leggings and flip flops...and I'm loving the look.

It is an absolute bargain at the moment at only £ 21.99. Being made from Bamboo it's super soft to boot.

Perfect maternity number albeit I made the discovery by accident!
